PLEASE NOTE:  Free diapers will only be handed out to approved organizations or individuals going through the proper channels dictated by the Shalom Free Clinic.  Those just “showing up” at the clinic looking for diapers will, unfortunately, not be given any diapers!

The Shalom Free Clinic is located in the Education Building next to the Congregational Church of Chico at 1190 E. First Avenue, Chico, CA 95926.

A buffet luncheon will be served each Sunday afternoon during clinic hours.

It was the dream of a few key people who thought they could do more for those with physical, mental, and spiritual health issues in our community. They decided that there had to be an alternative to help the sick and needy. As they gathered together others, their dream became a reality. This dream of hope has brought forth the creation of the Shalom Free Clinic.

The Shalom Free Clinic is co-sponsored by the Chico Havurah (a Jewish congregation) and the Congregational Church of Chico (a United Church of Christ congregation).

We wish to help others in a vibrant atmosphere that conveys our attitude of warmth, acceptance and respect for all people.

The Clinic is entirely staffed by volunteers, both medical and non-medical, from Chico and the surrounding communities. Volunteers are our foundation and we cannot function without them.

Some of our volunteers include Nancy, our Executive Director; Cindi Hoover, our Volunteer Coordinator; Silona, our Mental Health Coordinator; and Karen, our Medical Health Coordinator.

The North State Diaper Bank is a non-profit organization set up by Chico Holistic Healthcare; with the proceeds of donated diapers to go to the Shalom Free Clinic, acting as dispersal center.

About, Chico Holistic Healthcare: The first operating Neuropathy Treatment Center in Northern California — and thus, the oldest and most experienced as well; combining many unique modalities to effectively treat Peripheral Neuropathy and other maladies.

We specialize in Holistic Healthcare and natural treatment of many ailments; which some, may prefer to seek out a more natural alternative rather than harsh or toxic drugs.

The bulk of our clients are diabetics, stroke victims, those with MS or those simply with Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy; in which we use Electronic Nerve Stimulation with an FDA approved device. Together, we give our clients the utmost in top flight, state of the art, current care for their Peripheral Neuropathy and other ailments!

We treat with Certified Massage in many different modalities; i.e.  Anodyne Therapy, Pulsed Red and Blue Light Therapy, Sensorimotor Therapy, Whole Body Vibrational Therapy, 30% Micro-Oxygen Therapy, Acu-Koryo Hand Therapy, Reflexology for the hands, feet and ears, Acupressure, Pressure and Trigger Point Therapy; and treat with White and Blue Light Therapy for SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and depression which often goes along with not only Neuropathy, but general pain as well. 

We even offer High Blood Pressure, breathing techniques and coaching; so that ones blood pressure, which naturally tends to go up with pain, can be brought down or brought more under control naturally.

In addition, we often treat with Certified Reiki Therapy—which we have added to our over 30 years of massage experience.  We even have massage chairs, massaging neck pillows, massaging back pillows and even leg/feet massagers which can help with circulation or “force” blood down into the feet when blocked by nerve tumors as well as Localized Vibrational Therapy for the lower and upper legs.

We even have on staff a certified hypnotherapist as well for difficult cases and those needing a bit more help than what we alone can give.

Our 30% Micro-Oxygen Bar not only helps treat neuropathy and SAD, but offers relaxation after a long days work or for a “mini-vacation” any time during the week. Our reclining, 8 motor chairs and Ottomans, soft lighting, tranquil plants and vibrating neck support offer a relaxing experience when coupled with the Oxygen.  Or, add Aromatherapy to your Oxygen experience. We even have an on staff “hand and foot masseuse,” whom is also trained in  Reflexology, to make your “mini-vacation” complete.

Or, if you would rather, you can have a relaxing, full body massage while you have your Aromatherapy.  We offer modalities from Sports Massage, to Myofascial Release, Shiatsu/Tuina, Hot and Cold Stone, Reiki therapy, Lymphatic Massage… we are even certified in Canine Massage.

Often, we can be found volunteering at the Shalom Free Clinic on Sundays.  We are members of the Better Business Bureau and the Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce.  Unfortunately, in an attempt to keep treatment prices down and available to most, we do not accept insurance, Medical or Medicare.  We will provide an itemized receipt for cafeteria plan and medical reimbursement plans.  Please note, often to qualify for reimbursement, one needs to provide us with a doctors referral stating that you suffer from "Chronic Intractable Pain."  For seniors without reimbursement plans, we do offer "Senior Discounts" to those over 65 years of age.

Reserved for CHH (Chico Holistic Healthcare) and Handicap parking is located directly in front of our building and door.  As parking is something of a "premium," please use our reserved parking; as other spaces are reserved for other businesses.  If you need help or a wheelchair to enter, please call ahead and we will have a wheelchair prepared for you.  Thank you.
